The 1940s

My aunt is going through beauty school and needed two models for their class theme of the 1940s. So my mom and I volunteered to help out. Went went down to the school and got started right away because we were the first models to have our photo shoot. Sherry did our hair and make up which looked awesome. Then we had to get dressed in our 40s attire. My mom was a secretary and I was a cowgirl. We had a picture of my grandma and by the end I looked just like her. This is a picture of when we arrived. This is Aunt Sherry's project board. So then the fun began. I got started getting my hair in big rolls and ended up under a dryer. Never been there before...

She then got started on my makeup. We decided to enhance the mole on my face. I am thinking I see a resemblance of Cindy Crawford. Well at least I am telling myself that.
Here is the finished product of my mom and I. Aren't we the cutest. It is a lot of hard work to attempt the 40s. Glad 2009 I got under control!
Then came time for the awkward part. I had to be in a real photo shoot. I only got a couple of pictures because we forgot to take pictures but I think my aunt is going to get the negatives and so hopefully I will be able to post the real thing but until then.....

It was so hot outside and bright that I had to close my eyes and when they counted to three I would open my eyes and they would take the pictures. All in all it was tons of fun. My aunt did an awesome job.

LBJ

Wow... talk about lake water that is the temperature of a nice warm bath. The water was awesome. It took no time to jump in and have some fun. We went with Mark and Iris and John and Lisa up to Lake LBJ where Mark's parents have a lake front house. It was beautiful. Here is most of the crew on a small break from the sun.
And I am sitting lake side looking out...
John gave Gavin a ride on the wave runner. He had a blast. He kept asking to go on another ride.
I later took him while Bill was trying to learn to drive the boat with a skier and tube behind him. Roy and his friend Brandon took a liking to the tube. I will say that tube is for the younger ones. I can barely walk after that ride. But the boys had a blast trying to be cool with "no hands" and making funny signs at us.
Iris and I took a crack at skiing. We did well. Both of us got up and were able to go on long trips. The best part was we didn't break any bones. It was tons of fun and boy were we wiped out. And the best part....... NO ONE GOT SUNBURNED!!!!

The Girls Play Hookey!!

So a few of my friends get together every June and we all call in to work and head to the river. Last year it was a blast and this year was no different. We were all suppose to meet at 9:30. Well I believe we pulled out and headed up there around 11:00am. Nothing like being on time. Seems like a few of the girls went out last night and stayed out way to late. So I was a bit irritated on that but I got over it. We got in the water and it was so cold but I think the temperatures were pushing 100 so it felt so good.

The first round of tubing went by so fast. We sat around talking and catching up on old times. I began saying lines from the great movie Finding Nemo. "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming swimming, whoo hooo hoo ho ho!!!" We were all laughing.

We then got out and had a mini break and ate some wonderful peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from my good friend Angie. Thanks girl!! Then we headed back for round two. Now this one didn't go so well. When you first get in the river there is a huge winding tube chute that you go down. Well one of our ice chest fell over and the beer went everywhere. All these random guys began attacking the water and stealing all of our beer. BAD IDEA!! Our girls got out and went after their property. What ended up happening was these other girls grabbed some of the beer and gave it to the lifeguards. The lifeguards were hiding the beer under their live savers. Finally, our girls figured it out and went and got their beer back. It was a huge fiasco and took forever.

The rest of the trip went slow and we just relaxed. Lisa's tube exploded and she had to swim the whole last hour of the trip. What a trooper. We complained and she got a free tube rental for next time. All in all it was a fun trip. The only thing that could have made it better is if Candace (Our favorite crazy girl) was in town to go with us.

Dad's Day

I hope all the Fathers had a wonderful and blessed day today. We woke up early and barely made it to church with my dad. We went out in the gardens at the church to take some pictures.

We had to be at my mom's for lunch with the family. I was in charge of the fruit salad. Gavin and I cut the strawberries and bananas. It was so yummy!!
We hit the pool for a little bit. Roy and Jillian just had a ball. Jillian looks up to her cousin Roy so much and Roy did such a good job playing with her. They would hold hands, count to three, and SPLASH!!!

The River

So we headed out early Saturday morning for some fishing fun. We got out to our spot and the boys headed through the rocks to look for fish. Roy loves to use his net.
Gavin told Roy to be quiet while he is fishing. Guess he has been learning fisherman's etiquette.
We had tons of fun but it was extremely hot. I decided to test my balance skills and head out to catch the big one. No such luck.
The only catch of the day came to us when our good friend George hooked a soft shelled turtle. He was a hit. The boys thought that was awesome.

A Fisherman's Father's Day

We got the boys tonight and I showed them what they got their dad for Father's Day and had them sign the card. They were so excited to give their daddy his gifts. We got a call from our buddy George who wanted to go fishing with us and immediately Bill wants to go to Academy to get fishing gear. Little did he know I took care of everything. So Roy starts to spill out, "OH OH Summer can we give him his gifts? Can we please give him his gifts?" It was hard to say no.......
Gavin then told his dad to close his eyes while he opened his gift for him.
As you can see, Bill was excited to get to see his kiddos! And I think the boys feel the same.

Looks like we are ready for fishing tomorrow up at the Pertinalis River!

Bi-Monthly Project

So I know these pictures are not going to do it justice but the garage is clean. I forgot to do the "before" picture. I will get better at this blog thing. Doesn't it look beautiful....

You can see the floor. It is not a black hole like we had once thought.

Bill and I go on lots of trips so when we get back we just throw stuff in so it gets to be a mess. We wanted to get it cleaned since the boys are coming tomorrow for their first summer visit.
I was super tired but I was glad to get that done. Hopefully we won't have to clean it for three months this time. :)

What a catch!!

Well Bill and I decided to head down to Port A for the weekend. We woke up Saturday morning and headed to "our spot". We have had nothing but luck. I have not been that interested in fishing for sometime now but Bill is real into it so I thought I would appease him. When we pulled up to begin unloading the kayaks, "the spot" was packed with people. We were a little iritated but found a small spot on the left side that no one was using. We got out there and baited the hooks. First cast, BAM!!! I hit one and it sent my line a spinning. He was all over the place. Finally landed him and it was a keeper Red. Bill threw his line out and BAM!! his line hit and pulled in another keeper RED. By this time, everyone was watching us and it didn't stop there. One after another we pulled in keepers. It was so fun. We were grinning from ear to ear. Some other fisherman broke the cardinal rule of fishing and began inching over towards our spot. After that the fish were gone and it went completely dead.

I left and went and picked up an ice chest and ice. We put the beauties on ice and headed to eat. We ate at this new place called Kody's. We both had a burger and it was YUMMY!!

After that Bill and I headed to the beach for a walk. We have recently been on an exercise kick. I have major back problems and he is always tired so we think exercise will only help us. We ended up walking 3 miles.
When we got back to the cabin we had one project left to do: the screens. We were switching out the old nasty screens to nice solar screens. Bill worked for about an hour and finished up all but two of the windows. They look so lovely now.
We got back to the house on Sunday and had to take fun pictures and clean the fish. Bill and I have only cleaned fish once and never done it on our own. So Bill went to A*cademy and purchased some fillet knives. We began carving away.
We are looking for any takers on some fish cause the freezer is full now. My mom says she wants some for our Father's Day dinner. YAY!!!
All in all it was a fun weekend. And I suppose I am back into fishing. :)
