Billy's Shark

Well the day finally came. Bill's mission this fishing year was to catch a shark. Every time the line took off and we had a big one but the line broke he just knew it was a shark. I was not quite so optimistic. Not that I didn't think he could do it but I just thought the "What are the chances?" and also we don't have just great rods and reels. But this weekend his dream came true. We were fishing around this rig and Bill decided to throw out our big pole into the channel with a live croaker on the end. We were busy doing other things when Candace yells from her kayaks, "Bill, I think something is on your line!" Sure enough the pole was completely bent over and Bill's fun time began. As you can see he is smiling from ear to ear as her is reeling this puppy in! We had no clue what to do when he screamed out, "IT'S A SHARK!!!" I, of all people, grabbed the net and leaned over the boat (like I am pro) and scooped it into the net. My heart was racing at the point and I was screaming like crazy. So I threw it in the ice chest with the net in tow.
We then looked in there in awe. We had no clue what to do. Bill got ice from our food ice chest and started throwing ice on it. We were too scared to do anything else so we cut the line and began to freeze him to death. Finally, we were 100% sure that the shark was dead and Bill got his proud picture. He was so happy. The rest of the day nothing could bring him down. I think he said he loved me about a million times. I'm going to have to remember that one. :)Brad and Amy came down because Brad was playing in some concerts down in Corpus. We went and picked them up so they could hang out with us on the boat and Brad could fish. I think he had a blast. He hooked on to this lady fish. We also hooked on to the rig we were fishing by... TWICE!!! He is so funny. Finally, Saturday night we went into Corpus to watch Brad play in his concert. He was playing with a Latin Band. It was so fun to watch. He was so serious playing. I am glad I finally got to see him play. We have been meaning to go but just hadn't. That is him in the middle with the trombone.
Here is Candace, me and Amy at the concert. We had so much fun.
All is all..... Great Weekend!!

A Taste of Heaven

So we headed to the bakery today for our taste testing and consultation for our wedding cake. Castroville, which is where the wedding will be, is known for their bakery. I now know why... We walked in the door and could smell heaven. Freshly baked donuts, bread, cupcakes, cookies, etc. You name it, they had it. It was awesome. We then went with Mrs. Linda upstairs to the cake tasting. Here we are picking out and discussing all details.
My Aunt Sherry got to come and if you know my mom and desserts her sister is just the same. We were all sitting there discussing this is exactly what heaven is going to be like. Mrs. Linda was wonderful and definitely she knew her stuff. She pointed us in the right direction and I explained what I wanted and she put it together. I cannot wait to see this cake. I just think she is going to do a wonderful job. She also had 6 cupcakes with each different choice for us to pick from. They were all just wonderful.

So finally the final product was produced. We are going to have a three tier cake. The cake icing will be white and the blue snowflakes will be falling down all over the cake. YAY!!! It turned out awesome. And the taste was amazing. Just can't wait!!!

Lake LBJ Fun

We got invited to go hang out at a condo with John and Lisa and their family. We jumped on it right away. We enjoy hanging out with them and it had been awhile since we had done anything together. So right away when we got there on Friday, Bill wanted to get the boat in the water and the boys wanted to take the wheel. Roy was very intent on the job at hand. Bill was coaching him and trying to teach him how you have to look for the other boats and land.Gavin and I hung out together at the front of the boat. Roy and daddy decided to push the limits on the boats and as you can see our hair was flying in the breeze. The Gavin got his shot at the driver's seat. He thought he was king of the boat. He loved it and well luckily we didn't crash with a 3 year old behind the wheel. The next morning we went with Kathy, John, Lisa, and the boys to look at the mansions on the water. WOW Was it impressive. Each house had at least two boats and three wave runners. They had fountains and pools. It was just gorgeous.
Now for the coolest part. The millionaires (well maybe billionaires) had their own cove. So we thought we would see how the other side lives and sneak back there.... And this is what we found.... They have their own bridges. REALLY??So the best part of my weekend came on Saturday afternoon. I kept seeing a HUGE carp rolling around the dock. Uncle John had taught us to crush corn flakes together and pour Big Red on it and it would create a ball that you put on a small hook. So I got the bait ready and threw it out by the dock where I saw the fish. When I threw it out I hit the dock and spooked the fish. I thought there is no way I'd catch it. I was wrong!!!!!!!!!! Look at this bad boy. I was so excited. It put me on a good fight and I thought it was going to break the line but I got it in.
Finally we put a trott line in the water. We had never done this before so we were excited to see what it was going to bring.
The next morning we found a 3 foot GAR!!! First time to ever see this kind of fish. It was so much fun. We had such a wonderful time.

Labor Day 09

I started this weekend off right. I was out numbered 5 to 1 on the boat. So I had to represent the girls side. I pulled in a 17 inch trout. Then I pulled in a flounder and a red fish. I had another close in counter that I can only dream was on the other end. I had another fish jump on my line and start swimmin'. It was so fun. And just as the fun began.... It ended. Snapped the liter that I had on the line. Boooo hoooo!!! I can only dream what it was....
But the best part of the day is that my dad landed him a 16 inch trout. He never looked so proud.
That night Bill grilled us some yummy hot dogs and burgers. We sat around talking and the boys played baseball.
I will have to give it up for my boy's mad skills around the grill. He sure does a good job. Just right for us picky Allen girls. No pick but ya better not burn em'.
On Sunday we all headed to the beach. Here is Roy and Rocco all lathered up ready for the beach.
Bill loves to dig in the sand until he hits water and it fills up the hole from underneath. I know RANDOM!! But it sure does entertain the kids for hours.
Gavin, Jillian, and Rocco playing in the hole.
I would have to say that this trip was a complete success. The A/C units kept us cool enough and the kids got along very well. We were even able to sleep in til about 7:15 everyday. Whoo Hoo!! The sunburned duo... and both of us put on sunscreen. Grrr!!!
Last but not least you know I had to take a family picture. Here is everyone at the beach having a blast. I think everyone had such a wonderful time.
