Roy's 7th grade Football

So I can remember waiting so many years to finally be in 7th grade so I could play sports at the school. Roy is finally getting that chance. He has talked about it for years. The first game was chaos but now they are finally starting to figure out how to play football. The kids have been getting concussions, injuries, and quitters after the first week so it has left Roy's team a little skimpy. I think it is sort of a blessing because every kid is getting moved around to try and see what they can do and which position is best for them. They also get to play offense and defense so they are super tired when they get home. ( A PLUS!!)
So we get to the game and we see Roy's red shoes and #4-0 is the quarterback. Setting up the kid next to him for a little hand off.
And the kick off returner. (Not sure if there is a specific name for that position)
 And a corner back....
Airing it out for his first in the pocket throw. Unfortunately, this one was picked off.
Ohhhh. and he is so skinny he can't keep his pants up.
He seems to really like football and he really likes the coaches. He is very competitive and he doesn't like to lose which they are doing a lot of. But he comes home tired. He doesn't have a lot of time to get into trouble. He came home after this game very frustrated but he is working hard and hopes to keep his QB spot although the coach has already rotated him out. Hopefully we will find out what position he likes best or where the coach thinks he will best at and I will work with him this summer to get him better next season. This is all a learning curve.

15 Month Check Up

I took KK in for his 15 month check up. I was told no shots at this appointment. YAY!!! I walked in and the nurse did her usual milestone questions and I answered immediately that I really thought Kiernan was rocking his milestones now. I felt like all my little issues in his pre one year old months had subsided and he seemed to be doing just dandy. Then she got out the million dollar packets for his shots. WHAT???? I thought he doesn't need shots today. The nurse calmly told me I was incorrect and that KK would be getting 4 shots. UGH!!!! The doctor came in and checked him out and just thought I had the perfect little baby boy. She was so sweet and made my heart melt. Sometimes it is nice to hear things like that. Here are his stats from yesterday....

Head: 47  (43%)
Weight: 22.3 (18%)
Height: 31.5 (59%)

I was really worried about his weight and I brought it to the doctor's attention but she assured me that his history shows he is just a lean little guy and that no drastic changes have been made. She said as long as he is eating and I keep feeding him the good foods then he should be just fine. She thought he might be pretty active and burning those calories off. So I guess I do need to monitor it but maybe soon he will hit a little growth spurt. I told my mom about his weight and she thought he looks like a healthy normal toddler so no worries.

KK took his first two shots like a champ. The second two were a little rough but when he caught his breath all he wanted to talk about was his turtle. Next time I definitely need to bring it. He sure does love his turtle.

Aquarium in Corpus

It was a little rainy down South so we decided to take the little tike to the Aquarium. He is so into turtles so I was excited to see his reactions.

Loaded up my boys for our day. Of course I had to dress them up for the occasion.

We stopped at Crackle Barrel to fill our bellies. KK enjoyed the puzzle at the table.
Here is my favorite shot of the day. The turtle saying hi to my lil man. He loved the turtles.
We decided to splurge and get him a new back pack for school. And of course we choose the turtle one. He sleeps with it in his crib now. I tell him turtle is night night so he needs to go to sleep too. Seems to be working since I have took him off the bottle. It took one night of a tantrum and then he never looked back. I am still struggling finding a new night routine with a sippy cup.
And of course the minute we hit the car, he was out. Sleepy baby!!!
Thought the aquarium didn't have just a whole lot of stuff. We blew through it in an hour but maybe because KK was little and didn't just get into everything just yet. Still had a good times with my boys.

5 miler, OH MY!!!!

So as you know, I am training for the November 11th half marathon. A friend of mine just had a baby and she wanted to use this to get back in shape. Of course I can always use the workout and I needed an accountability partner and a goal or race to get the motivation there. Thus far it has worked. We have this idea of going 4 times a week and upping the mileage each week. It has been going good until this week runner's block hit us both.

We are now up to 5 miles. Just the thought of running 5 miles sounds completely foreign and absurd to me. We are both struggling finding the time to run. Always an excuse, right? Well we talked this morning and both set out our plans to run today.

I am happy to report that both of us completed the task today!!! YAY us!!! I did 5 miles in 1 hour 1 minute and 30 seconds. Ran the first two miles with no problems. My calves started to cramp in mile 3 and the phone for work rang a lot so I had a choppy third mile. But then I finished strong running 1.92 miles to the finish line.

I am really enjoying this but finding the time is so hard. I have found that from 3 to 4 the phones are the quietest so I try to sneak out then. Kiernan has been getting up early so I can't run in the morning. Also, it is dark and it makes me nervous to run. Then at night I am tired from the day and I want to spend time with KK and Billy. By the time KK goes to bed I want to sit and recoup. Sooooo it seems sneaking out at 3 is my best bet for getting it done. It has helped that SA has some "fall" weather. It has brought the temperatures out of the 100s which makes my lungs happy. :)

Back into Soccer

Bill and Gavin have started up their soccer season this past weekend. Gavin had two games. Gavin is super fast and really likes to kick that ball.
He did not score on this one. Darn that goalie.
 He's racing to catch up.
 KK is surveying the field.

15 Month Old

Where does the time go? Not sure but I love being a mommy to this lil' man. He has grown a few more hairs so we have been having fun with the hair spray.
 He has the sweetest smile.
He is all over the place right now. He throws everything on the ground. He likes a lil' BANG!! He loves his fireman hat too.
He is always checking to see what we are eating. Although, his appetite is never very large.
Handsome man at church on Sunday for Amy's little girl's baptism.
He wanted to go back into worship.
I love going to pick him up from daycare to see him drop his toy and run to the door screaming mama. Melts my heart.

Exercising Like Crazy

This was my 31st birthday present. I absolutely love it. I am determined to get on the exercising band wagon. Running hurts me so bad but biking is not so bad. My friend Candace goes on trails a lot and totally got me into it. I am so excited to start hitting the trails since they are .2 miles away.
But every bike comes with those HARD and I mean HARD seats. My booty just cannot take it. So I found the plush memory foam seat and of course I had my honey install it. Kiernan likes to be right in the middle of things and helping daddy. Well he likes to eat the tools too.
I have a hard time leaving KK to go exercise so the genius that I am thought to install a carrier on the back of my old bike so that if I need to take KK, I can. He loves it. And his little helmet is too cute.

Did I mention that I love to ride the trails? I LOVE it!! Just back with nature riding around. It is a little tougher ride but worth it.
Finally a friend of mine is dying to do the Rock n Roll in November and so I gladly told her I would do it with her. UGH!!!! I can't imagine doing another half but I'M DOING IT!!! We are being accountability partners and training 4 times a week. My body is killing me. But since the Olympics were on I saw all the volleyball players with their arms all wrapped up in this tape. Sooooooo, I did some investigating and found KT tape. OMG!!!!! It is heaven. I helps my back and knees and eases all of my pains.
I am up to four miles training in 47 minutes. Not bad. Sure do have a long way to go. I know this..... I hadn't seen any weight come off from all this working out. Sure would like to see some results in the mirror. It is 1 month today since I started this work out routine. I really am loving it.

Lots more going on in my world.... Just need a little more time to write.
