When I was growing up I wanted to be in patrols sooooo bad. But unfortunately my behavior was not so great so I was not included. I think Ash, Bryan and Bill were all in patrols. UGH!!! Well this little 5th grade is also a patrol. He takes his job very seriously and doesn't like to miss for any reason. I normally pick him up from school and I always just wait at the end until he is done and then I get in line and grab him and we go. But in the last month he has been promoted to CAPTAIN!!! This means he has to be the last one out of the patrol room and make sure everything is in order. He also takes this very seriously so he is coming out later and later.

This particular afternoon was taking especially longer than normal. Finally all of the teachers started to go inside so I felt like I needed to go search for Roy. I walked into the patrol room and the sponsor has a clip board and is speaking to Roy. I ask, "Is he in trouble?" THANK GOODNESS...... she said oh no Is this your son? He is an amazing kid and just does his job so well. My heart came back into my chest and began beating normal again. She said what a wonderful job he does. There was a kid horse playing and Roy wrote him up and she was very impressed with that. I was too!!!!

So finally the conversation came to an end with the sponsor telling Roy he would remain in the Captain position until the end of the school year instead of passing the responsibilities on to another student. WOW!!! That is the kind of thing that doesn't happen every day. Way to Go Roy!!!
